Woodies On the Loose!
We’re handing over a whole section of the park over to our Friends at Leazes park Woodcraft folk who are being very tight-lipped about what they have planned. Make sure you check out the western side of the park and find out what the Woodies are being so coy about!

It costs a lot of money to put together a free event such as Newcastle Green Gathering. If you feel like you can donate to our cause, please send your donations using the PayPal button below. Thanks!!

Newcastle Green Gathering is run entirely by volunteers – by the community for the enjoyment of the community - This means that we are always looking for people to get involved with the festival. If you are interested in getting involved in any way with the festival we would love to hear from you. How you get involved is entirely up to you, but we are always looking for volunteers to join in with the biggest free green event in the UK. You can do as little as 4 hours on the day or join a team to help co-ordinate a specific area or get involved in helping before the event.
We are especially seeking people to help with the following:

  • Stewards and steward team leaders to help run the event on the day.
  • Site & stage crews
  • Publicity
  • Fundraising

If you fit the bill or would like to get involved in any other way, please contact us

Stewards

Stewarding at the Green gathering is a great way to take part in the festival, do a bit for the community, and learn a new skill set (on top of that, it’s a great way of learning the ins and outs of stewarding that can help give you experience to open doors to working at the “big” national festivals).
Stewards shifts are 4 hours each, and run from early Saturday morning to late Sunday evening. In return for your time and smiles, you’ll get fed, watered, and the loan of a spiffing yellow jacket.
To volunteer, you must be at least 18 years old (for safety & legal reasons). All you need is a good understanding of English, a good team spirit and large dollop of common sense. If you decide to go for it, you won't regret it - it's fun and makes you a key part of the largest free green event in the country.

If you’ve stewarded at festivals before, and fancy a bigger challenge, why not sign up as a stewarding team leader? To do this you must have previous experience as a steward, have good communications skills, and be prepared to lead a small team of stewards for the whole day (you would need to be prepared to dedicate a whole day – or possibly 2 if you’re up for it – to the festival. You would work directly to an area coordinator, and support them in the safe running of an area, running a team of up to 8 stewards. In return for this we will provide post event references to support any applications for appropriate positions in other festivals. Being a Steward Team Leader is a great way to build up leadership skills, as well as a good method of developing your stewarding skills in a friendly and enjoyable environment
